Intrepid was Cyclone Rocketry’s entry into Spaceport America Cup (SAC) 2023. It was designed with a Student Researched and Developed 152mm motor to fly the rocket to 30,000ft, a piston ejection system, and a reefed parachute. It also used an updated apogee prediction algorithm to control an airbrake, improving our apogee accuracy.
While the flight was ultimately unsuccessful, suffering an airframe failure shortly into flight, the knowledge and lessons learned were invaluable to moving the club forward.
