Spring Break 2025 – Johnson City, Tennessee
Over Spring Break of 2025, 11 student members logged over 400 service hours helping with new home construction. Working with ASP (Appalachia Service Project), we were able to complete the installation of floor joists and subfloor, as well as the exterior and interior framing for a new home. Our students appreciate the help and learning experience that came with this trip. We look forward to working with ASP in future service projects.
Fall Break 2024 – Spencer, Iowa
Over Fall Break of 2024, 33 student members logged over 1,000 service hours to help our local community recover from flood damage. During our time in Spencer, we completed the installation of new insulation, framing, and drywall in three separate homes. We would like to thank those from the Spencer community who assisted us in our efforts to help those within our home state. Our AGC student chapter looks forward to helping our local communities during future trips.
Spring Break 2024 – Lubbock, Texas
Over Spring Break of 2024, 8 student members logged over 300 service hours to help the Lubbock community. During our time in Lubbock we completed the setting of casework and the installation of exterior wood fencing for three separate homes, as well as the construction of two bars which will later be auctioned for charity. Working with the Lubbock Habitat for Humanity was an incredible experience, and we appreciate their guidance and knowledge as we helped the Lubbock community.
Fall Break 2023 – Shawnee, Oklahoma
Over Fall Break of 2023, 22 student members logged over 700 service hours to help the Shawnee community recover from storm damage. Through the help of ROAD (Recovering Oklahoma After Disaster), we were able to install metal roofing for one home, assisted in the repair and replacement of an overhead coiling door, and were able to seal a roof experiencing water leakage. We are so thankful for the opportunity to aid the Shawnee community through this trip.
Spring Break 2023 – Athens, Georgia
Over Spring Break of 2023, 11 student members logged over 400 service hours to help the Athens community. Through the help of the Athens, Georgia Habitat for Humanity, we were able to complete interior demolition of an apartment recovering from a fire and performed finish carpentry on a new build residential home. We are so grateful that we were able to help out the Athens community.
Fall Break 2022 – Omaha, Nebraska
Over Thanksgiving Break of 2022, 25 student members of AGC participated in framing two houses in the Omaha, NE area. They logged 800 service hours with projects ranging from floor joist installation, framing, and installation of doors and windows, to setting roof trusses. We are so grateful that we were able to help out the Omaha community and we would go back in a heartbeat!
Thanksgiving Break 2019 – Slidell, Louisiana
Over Thanksgiving Break of 2019, 47 active student members of AGC participated in renovating and improving natural disaster affected homes in the Slidell, Louisiana area. They logged 1500 service hours with projects ranging from flooring replacement, foundation improvements, sub-floor replacements and drywall work. We are so grateful that we were able to help out the Slidell community and we would go back in a heartbeat!
Spring Break 2019 – League City, Texas
Over Spring break of 2019, 38 students from the ISU AGC volunteered over 1700 hours of community service to help the victims of Hurricane Harvey. Students complete dry wall in a house, tiling a floor, a deck build, and various other tasks. We had a young group of students, and were able to teach and lead by example. We all worked very hard to complete as much as we can and are thankful to help others get one step closer to a new home.
Fall Break 2018 – Gatlinburg, Tennessee
Over Fall break of 2018, 48 students from the ISU AGC volunteered over 1827 hours of community service to complete one new build, deck build, and some other misc. work. We were thankful for our sponsors who donated toward costs of lodging, meals, and miles. Our sponsors are DPR Construction, The Beck Group, Baker Electric, ARCO Design Build, Turner Construction, Absolute Group, JE Dunn Construction, Power Construction, Burns & McDonnell, Cramer & Associates, GC3, Hawkins Construction, Henning Companies, and Pepper Construction.
Spring Break 2018 – Lawton, Oklahoma
Over Spring break of 2018, 35 students from the ISU AGC Student Chapter volunteered over 1,850 hours of community service to complete 5 roofing projects, along with miscellaneous interior work in each. We hit a few bumps on the way home but overall, we made the absolute most out of the trip. Everyone was excited to help out these families and many students are showing interest in our next break trips.
Thanksgiving Break 2017 – Crawley, West Virginia
Over thanksgiving break of 2017, 50 students from the ISU AGC volunteered over 2,100 hours over the course of five days in Crawley, WV. This trip could not have been possible without all of our sponsors. We took five vans and two trucks to haul two trailers (one belong to ISU AGC and the other ISU NAHB) which were filled with tools, supplies, and luggage. Companies including Neumann Brothers, Hawkins, Traylor Brothers, and JE Dunn sponsored vehicles for all of these students to be able to volunteer their time to help those who were recently affected by floods.
Spring Break 2017 – Charleston, South Carolina
Over spring break of 2017, 36 students from the ISU AGC Student Chapter volunteered over 1,250 hours over the course of five days in Charleston, South Carolina. These students worked on many projects ranging from painting to roofing to demolition. We worked very hard on 9 projects throughout the course of our time there, and finished all of them on time. The pictures below show our time in South Carolina performing various service activities along with enjoying our short time on the beach in Charleston.
Thanksgiving Break 2016 – Baton Rouge, Louisiana
Over thanksgiving break of 2016, 39 students from the ISU AGC Student Chapter volunteered over 1165 hours over the course of four days in New Orleans, Louisiana. This trip could not have been possible without all of our sponsors. We took four suburbans and two trucks to haul two trailers (one belong to ISU AGC and the other ISU NAHB) which were filled with tools, supplies, and luggage. Companies including DPR, Bowen, JE Dunn, Henning-Paric, and Hawkins sponsored vehicles for all of these students to be able to volunteer their time to help those who were recently affected by floods. Other companies donated meals and material for the homes including Boldt, McCown Gordon, Cedar Valley, Harold Pike, Absolute Concrete, Manatts, PCI, Burns & McDonnell, Cramer & Associates, Black and Veatch, and Baker Electric.
