Tristen Girolamo – President
Tristen serves as the President of the NECA student chapter. He is a senior in Construction Engineering with an electrical emphasis and will be graduating in May 2018. Continuing his role as president, Tristen brings a great deal of knowledge and experience to lead the chapter to another successful year. Additionally, he can contribute years of industry experience after working internships at Interstates in 2016, and Baker Group this past summer. In his free time Tristen enjoys golf, basketball, and watching movies.
Jonathan Hoehne – Vice President
Jonathan is our Vice President this year and this is his third year with NECA. He is a junior in Construction Engineering with an Electrical Emphasis and also a key contributor in the winning Green Energy Challenge team. His industry experience includes an intership with Adolfson & Peterson. He also has field experience in residential construction. During his downtime he enjoys watching movies, hiking, and mountain biking. Jonathan will graduate in May 2018.
Collin Blatchford – Secretary
Collin is an Electrical Emphasis student in the Iowa State Construction Engineering program and plans to graduate spring of 2019. This will be his second year as a NECA Cabinet Member. He is currently working for the Business Department at Iowa State as a research assistant and is also a TA for our faculty advisor Jenny Baker. Collin enjoys socializing, exercise, reading, and puzzles.
Julie Penton – Treasurer
Julie, who goes by JP, serves as the NECA treasurer for the student chapter. She is a senior in Construction Engineering with a building emphasis and will be graduating in December 2018. Outside of NECA, JP is also involved with Green Energy Challenge, Associated General Contractors, and is a peer mentor for ConE Learning Community. She has worked on many various project types that include heavy highway, industrial, and commercial. During her free time, JP enjoys running, flag football, biking, and exploring the great outdoors.
Conor O’Brien – Events Coordinator
Sara Peterson – Webmaster
Sara Peterson is a senior in Construction Engineering with an Electrical Emphasis and will be graduating this December! Sara has many years of industry experience including almost two years with Baker Electric in Des Moines. Previous internships include summers with Edge Commercial and the City of Urbandale Engineering Department. This is Sara’s third year on the NECA student chapter. She is also a member of the Green Energy Challenge team. In her free time, Sara enjoys spending time with her family, biking, and building furniture in her garage.
Leo Brocka – ESC Representative
Beth Hartmann – Faculty Advisor
Beth Hartmann is one of the faculty advisors for Iowa State’s NECA student chapter. She saved the club from near-extinction several years ago and has lead it to thrive. Under her guidance, the club has seen three 1st place written proposals for the Green Energy Challenge and taken the team on four trips to the NECA National Convention. She brings out the potential in all of her students. She is featured in the 2014 Women Positively Impacting ISU calendar. Beth is the best!
Jenny Baker – Faculty Advisor
Jenny Baker is a faculty advisor for NECA. She also teaches a class on electrical systems in buildings, and advises the electrical students in the senior capstone class. Jenny’s degrees are in Architectural Engineering with an electrical emphasis. She worked as an electrical engineer and lighting designer at KJWW and at Farris Engineering, both in Des Moines, for several years before coming to Iowa State. Her expertise in the electrical industry is invaluable to the students of NECA, and her always-enthusiastic attitude is infectious. The NECA student chapter at Iowa State is incredibly lucky to have Jenny as an advisor, and her impact is widely felt.
