After a 3 week hiatus, AirISU was back at it last night! We took the week before spring break off due to an enormous amount of testing that was going on the week prior. Yay midterms! But we got back at it Tuesday night, and some really great results came through!
First, we successfully placed the right wing on the airplane! That means now that both wings, the left and right, actually are held in the spar for the first time ever!!!! Our excitement cannot be contained in these mere words.
Secondly, great news was given to us today. We got a call from a local company, Happ’s Airport, that said they have a hangar spot for us to rent! No longer will have to work out of our build advisor’s garage after being evicted from our on campus building (still a sore subject), but we will have are own space! Well, sorta. We are in a large hangar with some other people, but we can continue to work and build our plane without having to worry about taking up same in our very gracious advisor’s garage!
Unfortunately, we also made a slight mistake while connect the spars together. The bullet was a little too long, so we had to cut this lovely hole out.
Thankfully, the fix is easy enough. All we have to do is pop those four rivets, put another plate over top of it, and we should be good to go. The hole is only on the part where the seats go. So it can’t be that crucial, right?
