Selene

Selene is Rocketry’s entry into the Intercollegiate Rocket Engineering Competition (IREC) 2025. It is designed with a Student Researched and Developed hybrid motor to fly the rocket to 10,000ft, a piston ejection system, and a reefed parachute. It also uses an updated apogee prediction algorithm to control an airbrake, improving our apogee accuracy.

The team ended up attending IREC 2025 with a solid propelled motor in place of the Hybrid that was initially planned, due to some development issues, however Rocketry is fully committed continuous improvement, and plans to fly at IREC 2026 with a Hybrid motor!

Rocketry’s performance at IREC 2025 was truly amazing, with the team scoring 981 points, that put our division (10K COTS) placement in 5th place, and our overall placement in 8th place. 2025 was truly an amazing year for our team!

This is the 2025 Hype video, in it you will get to watch Rocketry build, test, travel, fly, and recover Selene. Make sure you check out our Instagram page to see more!
