The flight of IMPERATOR placed Cyclone Rocketry 2nd in the 10k solid SRAD division of Spaceport America Cup (SAC) 2022. It was extraordinarily exciting to return to competition in the summer of 2022 after cancellations in 2020 and 2021 due to the pandemic.
The mission of IMPERATOR was to win our division (10k solid SRAD) by flying to exactly 10,000 ft above ground level, powered by a student researched and designed (SRAD) motor. This was the first year the club competed in an SRAD propulsion category.
Rocket Shop has grown significantly in the last year, with around 120 due-paying members in Spring 2022. Our increased membership and new corporate sponsorships allow our impact to be larger than ever. Projects such as the 30K research vehicle and club-made L1 HPR kits allow members of any experience to grow their knowledge of rocketry and engineering through hands-on projects.
