Ed Schneider received his wings as a Naval Aviator in 1969, and graduated from the US Naval Test Pilot School in 1972. He served on active duty in the Navy from 1968 to 1983. He joined NASA in 1983 as an Aerospace Research Pilot at Dryden (now Armstrong) Flight Reseach Center. He transferred to Johnson Space Center in 2000 and flew there until his retirement in 2004.

He served as the project pilot for the F-18 High Alpha Research Vehicle (HARV) for the 10 year length of the program. He flew projects on the SR-71 from 1994 to 1999. During his 35 year flying career he flew 7800 hours in 80 types of aircraft.

Ed is a Fellow of the Society of Experimental Test Pilots, and was the organization's President in 1993/4. He is an inductee of the Kentucky Aviation Hall of Fame, and was awarded the NASA Distinguished Service Medal, the Agency's highest award.

He is titling his presentation: "The SR-71 Blackbird, a Reseach Pilot's Perspective" The presentation will cover a brief history of the Blackbird aircraft family, an in-depth technical description of the aircraft, and what is was like to fly at Mach 3 over 80,000 ft.
